What is Reiki? 

Reiki is an ancient method of healing. The founder is Dr. Mikao Usui. Reiki is a Japanese word which means Universal life energy.  This universal vibration can bring great physical, emotional and spiritual relief to the client.  A Reiki session will create feelings of deep relaxation and peace.

What is Seichim?

Reiki Master Patrick Zeigler discovered Seichim in the Egyptian pyramids. Seichim is accessing the energy of the great Mother earth it is said to be the Parent Energy of all hands on healing systems. It balances and realigns the yin-female aspect of our beings on all levels.

 Can Reiki/Seichim help me? 

 If you are stressed, anxious, distressed, restless, exhausted, or feeling low then Reiki can help you, studies so far have shown great results in reduction in stress, pain, and anxiety.

What do I feel during Reiki/Seichim?

Reiki & Seichim is effective through all materials, noninvasive and safe.  You may feel sensations such as tingling, warmth, coolness, even muscle twitching. Most clients feel as if they were in a deep relaxed state, with a sense of peace and wellbeing. Seichim and Reiki work together in expanding the individual's capacity to carry more light and love within his or her energy system. Both energies compliment each other and work concurrently on the client at different levels. We incorporate the healing blanket in our treatments. Your Therapist may recommend an ongoing treatment program to support the healing process.

I get terrible headaches from my allergies and my sinuses seem to stay clogged.  Is this something Reiki would be useful for?

Yes, Reiki helps relieve many of the symptoms associated with allergies such as headaches and nasal congestion, as it complements most medical treatments. 

I have a pacemaker and I wondered if I try Reiki will it stop it?

Reiki is a subtle energy that works toward creating balance in the body.  It does not affect any electrical appliance, including a pacemaker or any metals.

Can the energy from a Reiki session cause me any ill effects like make my condition worse?

Reiki energy does not cause pain or ill effects on any conditions. Reiki is safe and gentle enough for all populations.  It often relieves symptoms of many illnesses through the deep relaxation that it promotes.  To heal, you eventually need to face all sides of yourself including your fears and darkest issues.  A Reiki treatment can bring these issues to the surface and offer you the opportunity to take responsibility for your personal spiritual progress, letting go of self-condemnation and working toward balance instead. 

How long will I feel the benefits from having a Reiki session?

 A Reiki practitioner cannot dictate where the Reiki energy is most needed by you at the time of a treatment nor can she know how long you will continue to feel the positive effects from a session.  Reiki is an individualized experience and your needs at the time will determine how long you will feel the positive effects. Clients with chronic issues often schedule regular sessions for pain management and many do the same for the wonderful relaxation and stress relief that they experience.

How can Reiki help my dog when he is not trusting of strangers?

Animals will let you know when and if they want to receive it and when they have had enough.  Some animals are much more sensitive to the energy from a Reiki treatment and may require Reiki to be given from a distance.  Reiki energy is not limited by time or space.  Animals are usually very receptive to the treatments and almost always thank the practitioner in their own unique way.

If Reiki is given to someone who is under anaesthesia is it more likely that person will wake up during the surgical procedure?

Quite the contrary, Reiki is a subtle energy that works toward creating balance in the body, therefore Reiki would be supportive for the client as well as the staff by helping to induce a calm environment, greater clarity and grounding.

How many sessions will I need to have?

The number of sessions required for each client is dependent on what the needs are at the time.  It usually takes up to three one hour sessions for most to begin with and more for those with more serious needs. 

I have Multiple Sclerosis, can Reiki help me?

Yes, Reiki can help by reducing some of the symptoms of MS such as frequent headaches, fatigue, mental confusion, anxiety and muscle aches and pain. Reiki helps to reduce stress and promote relaxation and focus while working to restore the body's energy balance. 

Will my arthritis pain stop if I get a Reiki treatment?

The purpose of Reiki is to relax and relieve stress.  While it is often reported that symptoms of many illnesses are relieved after receiving Reiki there is no guarantee that after a treatment you will not have pain again.  Reiki can help with chronic pain through regular sessions and by working in conjunction with your medical care provider.  Reiki is never intended to replace any medical treatment.

I am going to have an operation next month. Can Reiki help me?

People who have had Reiki treatments before surgery experienced less pain and less loss of blood with fewer complications.  They also found that the healing process was quicker when they continued Reiki sessions after their procedures.  Reiki can help to support and strengthen the body.

Reiki and Chemotherapy / Radiation Therapy Surgery

Reiki helps those undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy have less discomfort while having a calming effect as it gently helps to release toxins accumulated from the treatments and assists in dealing with the fatigue, nausea and vomiting. 

Reiki and Dental Procedures

Reiki is very effective for dealing with "dental phobia" by calming and relaxing an individual prior to a procedure. Reiki treatments before and after help to decrease the discomfort and promote healing with less complications.

Reiki has a very calming effect and through regular treatments hyperactive children can benefit from Reiki.  Over time the children develop calmness within that assist them in staying focused.  Reiki works well with medical treatments.

Reiki supports the body during acute medical crisis by assisting with pain management, anxiety, decreasing blood loss while calming both patient and witnesses. 

What can be treated with Reiki

Reiki has had a positive affect on all forms of illness and negative conditions. This includes minor things like head or stomach aches, bee stings, colds, flu, tension and anxiety as well as serious illness like heart disease, cancer, leukaemia, etc. The side effects of regular medical treatments have also been reduced or eliminated. This includes the negative effects of chemotherapy, post operative pain and depression as well as improving the healing rate and reducing the time needed to stay in the hospital. Reiki always helps and in some cases people have experienced complete healings which have been confirmed by medical tests before and after the Reiki treatments. However, while some have experienced miracles, they cannot be guaranteed. Stress reduction with some improvement in ones physical and psychological condition are what most experience.

Does one have to stop seeing a regular doctor or psychologist in order to receive a Reiki treatment? No. Reiki works in conjunction with regular medical or psychological treatment. If you have a medical or psychological condition, it is recommended that you see a licensed health care professional in addition to receiving Reiki treatments. Reiki energy works in harmony with all other forms of healing, including drugs, surgery, psychological care or any other method of alternative care and will improve the results.

Can I treat myself?

Yes, once you have received the attunement, you can treat yourself as well as others. This is one of the great features of Reiki.

I have heard that Reiki can be sent to others at a distance. How does this work? Yes, in Reiki II, you are given three Reiki symbols. These symbols are empowered by the Reiki II attunement. One of these symbols is for distant healing. By using a picture of the person you would like to send Reiki to or by writing the person’s name on a piece of paper or simply by thinking of the person and also activating the distant symbol, you can send Reiki to them no matter where they are. They could be hundreds of miles away, but it makes no difference. The Reiki energy will go to them and treat them. You can also send Reiki to crisis situations or world leaders and the Reiki energy will help them too.

What does it feel like to give a treatment?

When giving a Reiki treatment, the Reiki energy flows through the practitioner before leaving the hands and flowing into the client. Because of this, the practitioner receives a treatment also. As the Reiki energy flows through the practitioner, she/he will feel more relaxed and uplifted. Spiritual experiences sometimes take place. The practitioner sometimes receives insights about what the client needs to know to heal more deeply.

 Is it safe for pregnant woman? Since Reiki is guided by the Higher Power, the Reiki energy will know the condition of the client or student and adjust appropriately. Reiki can only do good. Many pregnant women have received treatments with great benefit to them and their unborn child. It has also been used during child birth. Pregnant women have also taken the Reiki training and received the Reiki attunement with beneficial results.

What about babies? Babies love Reiki. It is very healthy for them. Do not worry about it being too strong. Reiki automatically adjusts to what the baby needs.

Can I treat animals or plants? Animals love Reiki too. They seem to have a natural understanding of what Reiki is and its benefits. Once a pet has received a Reiki treatment, they will often let you know that they want more. Plants also respond well to Reiki.

Are there any side effects from a Reiki treatment? Most of the time a person will feel relaxed and uplifted by a Reiki treatment. However, sometimes a person will have what is called a healing crisis. As a person’s vibration goes up, toxins that have been stored in the body will be released into the blood stream to be filtered by the liver and kidneys and removed from the system. When this happens, sometimes a person can get a headache or stomach ache or feel weak. If this happens, it is a good idea to drink more water, eat lighter meals and get more rest. The body cleansing is part of the healing process so this is a good sign.

Can it be used to help groups of people or even global crises? Yes, this is one of the wonderful benefits of Reiki and is why it is such a wonderful technique for the new millennium. It allows individuals and groups to do something positive about the challenging situations we see on the news all over the planet. Reiki can be used to reduce suffering and help people any where in the world. The more we use Reiki the more the vibration of this planet will change and become more peaceful..
